MicroMatrix™ Technology
ABN's
proprietary and unique technology can allow for the microencapsulation
of probiotic bacteria for the extension of food applications, including
use in infant formula. ABN's technology makes possible the oral
delivery of a wide range of bioactive molecules, such as vaccines,
enzymes, hormones, and peptides, as well as probiotic bacteria and prebiotics.
ABN's
microencapsulation technology allows encapsulated bacteria to withstand
the stomach's harsh acidic conditions and pass on to the gut, where
they can colonize and impart their beneficial effect. On the other
hand, naked bacteria such as those found in yogurts, are for the
most part killed in the stomach and never reach the site where they
can have an effect.
All
of the components of ABN's encapsulation matrix are GRAS food grade
products.
